 Health and fitness, I know it is a touchy subject. I am studying nutrition and try my best to lead a healthy lifestyle but to be honest, it is sometimes just hard. There is so much information out there nowadays that it can be hard to decipher what to do and when to do it. The truth is, the best thing you can do for yourself is to get out and move, and eat real food, stopping when you are no longer hungry. Seems easy right? Well, while I can say it, it is a whole other thing to actually do it. Sometimes I just feel lazy or can’t help but eat poorly.

The truth is though, to me a healthy lifestyle comes with acceptance, balance and knowledge. First, I think it is important to accept who you are and where you are at and what you do and do not like. If you hate brussels sprouts don’t eat them. If the thought of running makes you sick, try a different form of exercise. Learn to love yourself where you are and build a lifestyle off of that.

 

 

 

 

Balance come with acceptance. We all have our favorite comfort foods, guilty pleasures and days where the couch is our best friends. That’s ok! Everything is ok in moderation. There are no bad foods and you don’t need to feel guilty for resting! Find that balance that you and your body needs! Finally, knowledge is so important. So many of us are more than ready to hop on the next diet bandwagon, accept what the media tells us…etc. It is so important to immerse yourself in knowledge and understand the things your body needs to survive and how you can provide your body with these things!

 

 

I personally am working on all of these things in my life and I want to share that journey with you. Learning to accept myself and finding a balance in this crazy life are all things I am figuring out and I will share that process with you!

 

As far as fitness is concerned I have found that I love to be outside. I love hiking, exploring, walking, going on bike rides, etc. I also love trying out different classes and videos (Pilates, Zumba etc.)

 

 

 

In case you can’t tell, I get bored with my workouts easily. In fact I hate the idea of working out in general. It implies this forced form of torture and I just cringe and get nervous when I think about it. This becomes especially difficult when it gets too cold to play outdoors. Lately I have been just thinking about challenging my body and being active because I know I feel better when I get to move and play and have fun. I am trying new things and making up some “work outs” (play sessions? …ok maybe not) and I hope you will try them too.

 

I love the idea of circuits and intervals and I am always trying to come up with new ways to feel the burn, and get in some awesome exercise, while staying entertained and enjoying myself. Doing different things each time I hit the gym makes me excited to get my daily exercise rather than dread the thought of being stuck on a treadmill for hours!

I will also be posting some of the things I am learning about health overall. There is so much to know and learn and I am so excited about nutrition and my subject field. I think there is a lot out there and we are constantly being told what we need to do and what we need to look like. But what do we really need and how can we fuel our bodies properly and learn to love and take care of ourselves?
